D J Clark graduated from University in 1984 and went on to work with young people producing theatre and making films. In 1989 he took a job in Ramallah, West Bank, which led to a new career in Photojournalism. By 1991 he had established himself as a freelance photographer working for publications and agencies world-wide.

Returning to the UK he established Folly Pictures, an agency producing still and moving images and running photography workshops for overseas development organisations. Folly Pictures has since become a public media arts centre and continues to thrive.

Clark started lecturing in Photography, first at Lancaster University and recently as senior lecturer on the Photography and Video degree at Bolton Institute. He has continued to take on photographic commissions and consultancy work. In 2003 he was awarded a Winston Churchill Travelling Fellowship to investigate the photographic image of Ethiopia.

A folio of Clark's work can be found at www.djclark.com,
