DESCRIPTION: Galinhos is a small oceanside village in the far north of Brazil. Poised on a thin peninsular it can only be reached by a small fishing boat or by walking over the sand dunes that guard it from the mainland. The people make their living from the sea that surrounds them, and the few tourists that dare to venture. The village is however far from sleepy. After the boats come in the music is turned up, and the party starts, everyone loves to dance. This exhibition is a personal photographic journal of a three day visit to Galinhos. The pictures describe a journey across the North East of Brazil to reach the village and the people and place that I found. Nothing is certain in Brazil, and few things look and feel the way you might expect. "You should always expect the unexpected" my guide kept telling me. The resulting images are likely to challenge the viewers perception of this area of the world and indeed their own perspective of life.
