General Information

During the year 2000 D J Clark built a visual record of the Lancaster & Morecambe district using photographs and information submitted by those that feature in the pictures. The project was conducted in association with Lancaster Museum and has been archived for future generations to look back at the district at the turn of the new Millennium. For more information on the project visit the information page. If you find a caption is wrong or there is a fault with the page please e-mail D J Clark.

Photographer's Comments

The pictures were taken periodically throughout the year as a reference point for the progression of the year. Originally the project was called Bridge 2000-1 as the bridge was due to be started and finished during the year. DJ Clark used to visit the bridge between various projects to document it's slow growth. The idea originally was that the exhibition and book would be chronological with a picture of the gradually growing bride spread amongst the photographs. The Bridge effectively symbolising the passing of the year.

Unfortunately though the builders became behind with the Bridge building and it did not Open until February 2002. Pictures from the opening do not appear on the CD ROM or the Website but do exist in the library of negatives. They are the only pictures in the Library not taken in 2002. As the bridge did not complete on time, a new title was created.
